Data Science and Beer: Kris Peeters

At the recent sold-out Spark & Machine Learning Meetup in Brussels, Kris Peeters of Data Minded delivered a lightning talk called Data Science and Beer.

As Kris explained, because of its general-purpose nature, Apache Spark™ is being used by a wide variety of data professionals, each with their own backgrounds. The data warehouse / data lake of a large organization is a spot where those 3 worlds collide. He's experienced the good, the bad and the ugly of those encounters first hand. In this lightning talk, Kris shared what each group can learn from each other, how they can collaborate, and which are the recipes for disaster.

The time it takes to run an ETL job is dependent on the total data volume so that the time and resource costs rise as an enterprise’s data volume grows. The requirement for analytics databases to be mo... Read More
